On March 19th 2015, a Panel Discussion was held in line with International Women’s Day 2015, for staff of the John Keells Group, at Earl’s Court, Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo.
The objective of the discussion was to inspire, motivate and empower women at work and also inculcate a corporate culture of gender equality and to provide ideas and insights to improve work life balance, for both working men and women alike.
The panel consisting of Ms. Nadija Tambiah (EVP John Keells Holdings PLC), Ms. Premila Perera (Non-Executive Director John Keells Holdings PLC), Mr. Suresh Rajendra (President – Property Sector, John Keells Group) and Ms. Sharmini Ratwatte (Non-Executive Director, John Keells PLC) was moderated by Kumudu Munasinghe – Manager JKH Corporate Communications.
It was an interactive session, as the panel shared experiences on their personal lives, about their journeys in reaching senior positions in their careers and balancing career and family.
The participants of this forum received a bookmark as an entrance which were manufactured by victims of domestic violence and were custom-made for this event through “WIN FOR HER”, which a brand is created by Women In Need, an organization dedicated to the elimination of violence against women for the past 27 years. “WIN FOR HER” is project to rehabilitate and empower victim-survivors of gender based violence, where they are trained to manufacture recycled paper and paper products.
