Innowave @ Techcity is a series of inspirational talks hosted by John Keells Research to enable brilliant minds to share knowledge on innovation and its significant role in development and business. Through this program, John Keells Research hopes to contribute to the creation of an innovation ecosystem at the Technology City in Pitipana, Homagama by creating a common platform which brings together the prominent institutes based in the tech city thus spurring collaboration.
Two sessions have been held thus far at the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) Auditorium. Participants representing the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC), The National School of Business Management (NSBM) and the Center for Research & Development of the Ministry of Defense (CRD) were in attendance. With more institutes expected to move into the tech city during the next few years, it is envisaged that future events will draw more participants of diverse backgrounds.
The second was held on the 11th of December and was a Q&A session with Ms. Otara Gunewardene, an entrepreneur, philanthropist and the Founder of Odel, Embark and Otara foundation Otara shared her inspirational story of being an entrepreneur and building businesses up from scratch.
The guest speaker for the first session was Mr. Peter D’ Almeida who is the Managing Director and Chief Executive of N-able, a tech entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in the IT industry. He delivered a speech on the Importance of imagination and Innovation in Research & Development.
John Keells research will continue to host the talk series every quarter.
